Default Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

Bird's been talking to me about Paper Mario lately and I asked him if he'd played Super Mario RPG. He hasn't, so this thread must exist in order to change that.

It's Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, Bird! Without it, the Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi series wouldn't exist! You must play it! You must soak it in! You must enjoy it! The Axem Rangers demand it!

Here, have the intro to the game:

So give me your Wii friend code! I'm going to buy it for you!

I have a confession.

I too have never played this game and yet I love the Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi series. I should change this.

YOU SHOULD!

I'll be honest, I'm not big on the Paper Mario games, but I loved the crap out of Mario & Luigi 'cause it had a lot of the same energy and humor that this game did.

I don't think it got released in Europe, not on SNES anyway.

Downloaded and played it late last year on Virtual Console, really enjoyed it and the visual style it had too. I still like Paper Mario more though.

I'll be honest, this was my first RPG. After this, I went on an RPG rampage and got both Earthbound and Final Fantasy IV afterward.

This, along with Super Mario World and Super Mario 64, are probably my favorite Mario branded games ever.

I have this on the SNES, my brother borrowed it from a friend who never asked for it back.

Man I played this. Never beat it though... I was too young to really figure out RPGs back then, and when I played it through on Virtual Console, The fire dragon thing boss kicked my ass.

I need to pick this back up.

We had rented this game from Blockbuster the first time I played it. My mom had gotten it for two rentals straight. I had it long enough to get to Smithy at the very end.

I was playing the Smithy fight one morning, before school, and I had beaten him right before I had to go. Or so I thought. He went into phase 2 and I was like, well fuck. So I turned the TV off, left the SNES on, put the controller in front of the red LED so no one would know it was on and left. I came home from school later that day to find out that it had been taken back to Blockbuster. I was quite sad.

Got a copy of the game myself about half a year later and busted through it all again, fighting Culex, getting the Lazy Shells, doing everything I could before Smithy.

The Mario RPG games is probably one of the most consistently good series of games I've played. I must've been SMRPG at least 4 times at this point, and Paper Mario 2 3 times.

I too have never played this, but if there's a way to play it on a mac I would remedy it. Mainly because 5 people have yelled at me about this and I know I'd love it.

Seriously, though. You should play it. At least you've played Superstar Saga. I love that game so much. I still need to play Bowser's Inside Story, though.

All of you who haven't played this are horrible and need to play it. I love the Mario RPG games as a whole. They're all so great.

I remember when SMRPG released on the Virtual Console, I ended up going through the entire series again (and beating M&L2 for the first time). Remember they announced M&L3 shortly after I had finished.

Nami, be sure to play MOTHER3 if you haven't. It's my second favorite game, second only to Earthbound. Bowser's Inside Story kicks ass too. I love all the Mario RPGs, although I guess my username gave that away...

I got pretty far in that! Prof and I were playing "together" and then his Acekard died so I haven't gone back.

And yeah. Money mainly kept my family and I from playing a lot of SNES/N64 games back then.

Love this game, but I still haven't beaten it yet. The Axem Rangers fight is hard.
