I think a lot of people in here used to play RO. Myself included.
It's fun, but I don't think I could ever go back to it.
It gets old after a while, yeah. You can only focus on a select few skills, and each monster encounter ends up working the exact same way. Then that one uber monster or worse MVP that roams the current map shows up and you have to RUN FOR YOUR FUCKING LIFE (usually in vain.)
That game got old, but at least its simplicity allowed them to add new content easily and frequently. I looked at it again after a few years and the number of classes have EXPLODED.
Well, there's a game called Runes of Magic. Looks like a WoW clone. Of course, it is free.
Good news: You can ride mounts from the start(Or at least the first 10 levels), you can choose a 2nd class at level 10(Start as rogue, decide you want range, go pick up mage. Boom, fireball throwing rogue*), and you get your own house, scrolling over an enemy TELLS YOU how many you need to kill if it's part of a quest, skills are given to you instead of being forced to trudge back to each city to buy them, and YOU CAN MAKE HE-MAN.
The bad news: You can only be a human, and like every other free game...You can buy special weapons for minor advantages(I'm sure it's nothing major)...And I think it takes up a LOT of space.
The unimaginably horrible news: The updating took 6 hours. It took 1-2 hours to download, 30 minutes to install...Then you can launch it. At that point, it goes through a 6 hour updating thing, which makes the computer run ungodly slow.
Going to download it while I sleep tonight. I invite you all to join me in shenanigans once this is all up and ready.
*Fireball throwing rogue needs to level up the individual mage class. Same goes for every secondary class.
It didn't take me long at all to update. Maybe an hour but that was alright.
I dont like that I have to be a human but I ran into some level 50 players yesterday who were giant rock golems so there has to be something you can do higher on up and/or they bought something with people money.
I recommend it it's easy to make gold and always tons of quests to do. I've only been playing a week and I'm almost level 20 (but I play hours and hours a day) so it isn't hard to level.
SCHTHACK PSO:BB is fun with friends. Also, can't wait until Dungeon Fighter Online comes out. They started sending invitations to the closed beta yesterday. It's a beat 'em up arcade styled MMO and it looks hella sweet.
Take your form. Let it be the scariest, let it be furious.
I just downloaded Dragonica, because my friend recommended it. Couldn't register over at THQ for some reason involving "invalid e-mail address." So I registered and downloaded over at the European version of gpotato.
The latest MapleStory patch finally released the Knights of Cygnus classes.
There's 5 of them, each having an element and being based around one of the original 5 classes.
Archer - Wind
Mage - Fire
Pirate - Lightning (Later on you get a skill where you punch, and lightning sharks fly out of your hand and fuck shit up.)
Thief - Shadow
Warrior - Light/Holy.
Each one gets a small spirit pet skill, that you summon and lasts for a given amount of time. 20 points to max, starts at 100 seconds. At the end it should increase for 300 seconds a summon. These follow you, and attack things around you at an about 5 second interval. It's a small burst attack, so if things are close enough together, you can hit and about 5 or 6. It does decent damage.
The level cap, instead of 200, is 120. You gain more skill points per level.
Also, Knights of Cygnus characters get one path. So, you can't be a dagger-wielding Night Walker (Thief of Cygnus). However, this makes placing points easier and makes room for the spirit.
Been dicking around with a Night Walker, seems really cool. Though I may try one of the Blaze Wizards later. The skills of those look beastly.
