I take it they're pretty small expansions?

Why is it so damn hard for me to actually obtain a copy of this game?

Nope, Steam has it though, but it's overpriced and I'd be stuck in EU servers.

Umm... EU servers? Are you sure?

I'm trying to think. I seem to recall playing with a chick from Oslo, but I dunno if she bought the American version or not. I know many of the servers are international, so I dunno why Europe would have their own.

The servers aren't really segregated by region regardless of which version you buy. You pick the server you play on when you make your character - the local of the people you play with is usually just on what people from what region are on at a certain time.

I dunno why I thought this. I'm pretty sure she had to buy an American copy of the game. A lot of Europeans I played with did or some crap. I think.

Anyway, reinstalling this game. I know I'll regret it, as the game kinda sucks, but common sense be damned. I wanna see if my RDM is still around and get my account back up for the sake of FFXIV goodies.

I'd actually join you just to cruise around and bask in the Nostalgia, but I has no money.

Goddamnit. I forgot I need to download the newer Vista version of PlayOnline from the site. I've been sitting here, dicking with the one I just installed when it's a launch copy, XP compatible. Hasn't been loading and I'm sitting here, wondering why.

They're making it sound like my account is gone. Patching now to see if I can login. If not, that's kinda bullshit. I paid for this game.

This is what I keep seeing when I try reactivating my PlayOnline account:

Makes me weary about ever playing another Square MMORPG, to be honest.

Well, seems Square took it upon themselves to kill my account entirely. Even my PlayOnline one. Why, I have no idea. I don't think I'll ever be playing this game again.

I got it working, but they said my card isn't good enough to charge to. So back to square one.

Pun not intended.

Seriously though Playonline is probably one of the worst experiences I've ever had.

Bit of a necro, but after playing FFXIV it got me thinking that I'd want to give this game another shot. After going back and forth with square to recovering my details I have my unused account back.

I'll be trying to level through the story after the new years if anyone wants to join.

Console versions shutting down a year from now.

I'll try and give it another shot before it's gone, maybe the news will bring more people back.

http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/vanaproj/index.html

So, they'll be releasing the final content updates for the game this year. May thru November. After that, game will stay up until people stop paying for it I guess.

May 15th-25th they'll be having a "welcome back" campaign. Anyone with an account will be able to play for free during those days. They've also uploaded the installer which you can find here: http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/dow...stall_win.html

The new/final xpac "Seekers of Adoulin" is $5 and the full game is $10 and obviously includes 30 days of play-time.

The game is really amazing and very much worth checking out if you've never played it. It came out before WoW changed the way companies make MMOs.

I'll be on Asura ign "Shoshanna" if anyone feels like playing.
