Default Chrono Cross

This game is great. Playing it again. Yadda, yadda.

Anyway, does anyone remember if you can randomly get Harle at the start of the game? I could swear I have before.

EDIT: I guess have a video, too, since it's the game's thread:

Not that I know of.

Though don't you have access to all the characters that you got during the first play-through on New Game+? Or maybe I'm remembering wrong and its just items and equips and that fast forward device.

I know you aren't able to get everyone on one playthrough and have to do it again to do that. That's all I remember.

Yeah its impossible to get everyone, in one playthrough, due to the branching story lines that make some characters impossible to get after certain choices are made.

Course I think the characters I always used you could always get regardless. i.e. Pip, Draggy and Orlha.

I really wish I'd played this one.

I'm mostly just worried about that random party member you get when you first start a new game. I could swear Harle was one of them.

I think the only way to get Harle in your "press this button to get all the characters you got in previous playthroughs" was to get one of the endings while she's still in your team.

Because she's not in your team very long. I think there's only one ending you can get while she's in your team? It's been so long I don't remember. I remember it's possible to get all the characters in a minimum of 3 playthroughs (and you don't need to get far into the 3rd).

Also I remember getting Glen to dual-wield his brother's sword. Was good times, even though if the animation for holding it was weird.

Man I should play this again.

OHHHHHHHH

I know what you're talking about!

During that 'dream' portion when you appear with two other characters getting off the elevator? I always thought that was random.

I don't think Harle was one of them because I think it only picks from characters obtainable before then. And you can only get her after.

Picked this up while in Seattle along with a few other games that never made it to PAL countries.

Curious to see what the hell it is.

I have this on my PS3. I should play it as well, I want to prove to myself I can win even with weaker characters like Razzy.

I know I'm in the minority, but I always liked this game more than Chrono Trigger. I played a good deal of it way back when, but never finished it. Gonna try doing that this time.

Same I've played some Chrono Trigger and, I dunno, it just never grew on me like Cross did/has. Cross is easily my favorite video game bar none.

I dunno that I'd say it's my most favorite game, but when the question of best game soundtrack of all time comes up, Chrono Cross has always been a really easy answer for me to give.

I honestly never cared for Cross but loved Trigger. But of course different strokes for different folks. It wasn't a terrible game or anything but it just isn't special for me.

One of the things I really liked was that levels were tied to story progression. On your first playthrough, every boss was difficult and no amount of grinding would solve that.

Also when I played, my game was bugged and I never actually saw the super ending! This gives me an excuse to play the game again.

I never got to play this when it came out, but my brother owned it and I'd watch him play it all the time. I've been meaning to play it, but I should probably play trigger first, even if they aren't connected.

They are. I mean, it's done in a way that you can play Cross and never need to have played Trigger. It's not that direct, but they are connected.

Revive being fucking worth all the tea in China is a big one too. You had to be smart during every boss battle because you probably only had a few revives and had to be smart about your heals compared to the amount of attack elements you had.

Playing this again because Nami made me think of it.

Poshul and Leena in my party, trusty dog and childhood friend at my side.

This can only end in heartbreak.
