It is a serious situation, but in all honesty I think we all hope the same thing, so there really isn't any discussion to be had.

I think the vast majority of people who are "supporting" the Iranian populace at this point are doing so due to utterly selfish reasons. There is money to be made from tshirts and the like, and the need to feel like you are part of a cause. This is why I used the term supporting the way I did. The spreading of knowledge and interest is good, but when you start to make something like this an internet cool guy party where if you aren't in the "know" you are a clearly uniformed idiot who should know of every single case of brutality that has gone on there recently.

I honestly think if all these people spreading stories, turning their avatars green on forums, and trying to show support in one way or another put anywhere near that much effort into their own communities on a regular basis it would make a much bigger impact on the world. But the story will pass, that country will settle, and people will pat themselves on the back saying they made a difference even if all they did was post on a message board.

Remember when Letterman made fun of her daughter and that "controversy"? I think Palin said "Fuck it! I'm out..." Honestly, I don't think Palin likes the spotlight on her... she can't be corrupt anymore!

I can't tell if you are attempting to be witty or act informed by referencing pop culture.

Either way, you failed.

I was being serious. I think the eye of the media was too close to her, and she wanted out! She has no credibility after the campaign...

Really? Her resigning as Governor is dumb if she wants to run in 2012. Everyone's gonna say "Look at her track record. She resigned!"

I think the military is doing a better job of connecting with the local people than the fat cats coming in to visit.

The Daily Show really hammered them for this.

Palin is not really a viable choice for a presidential candidate, in my opinion. The only people she truly appeals to are the conservative base voters, which aren't going to swing elections beyond primaries. I mean, she may become the Republican candidate, but she won't beat Obama if he runs for reelection.

Providing he doesn't fuck everything up and ruin the general public's perceptions of Democrats, of course.

Kind of a late reply there, buddy.

I haven't watched Morning Joe in several months. Probably a month before I posted that, at least.

I know, I just wanted to mention The Daily Show so I could seem pop-culturally knowledgeable and because their little feud with Scarborough was excellent. Wasn't really meant to make light of you or anything, just a chance to mention some news surrounding the show.

Plus, Mornin' Joe's signing with Starbucks is a fairly recent development, so I thought it was relevant.

Don't worry, congressional Democrats are already taking care of that one.

Like they always do.

I think that's from the Onion. Speaking of the Onion, anyone notice that it's been taken over by a Chinese fishing company?

I know it's from the Onion, I'm talking about the person who posted it and is treating it seriously.

EDIT: Wait, what about Chinese fisherman?
