Its Banjo-Threeie, except Banjo is now a chameleon, and Kazooie is a bat.

3D Platforming, collecting lots of things, themed worlds, catchy tunes, all the stuff you loved back in days of the N64.

Looks good, definitely miss these types of games, looking forward to it!

Its only been up for a few hours and its already made over $800,000, thats pretty cool.

Actually that's the amount in Pounds. It's about $1.26 Million in American Money.

Also I've chipped in money for the game and the basic demo.

More like Banjo-Fourie, which is equally dumb sounding and...

...well, also awful sounding as a game. Bleh. Boo. Ugh.

Thats cool, love seeing these projects get loads of support like this, shows people still care about certain types of games.

Ill probably chip in enough to get a physical copy or something, I missed out on too many of these. MN9, Torment, Wasteland 2, not this time.

So this seems like it's going to hit its last stretch goal sometime overnight. Only $150,000 to go.

Color me excited, I've always been a huge fan of Rareware games before the Microsoft acquisition, it does my heart good to see these guys back together working on their dream project.

To be fair, a lot of this team is responsible for post-Nintendo titles like Perfect Dark Zero, Kameo: Elements of Power, Viva Piñata and Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts. Nintendo dumped them like hot trash for a reason.

No offense to those last two games. Never played them, but I heard they were alright. Most everything else they made from like late N64 to early Xbox One? Bleh.

They'll probably add more, like I think MN9 did when it reached all of its initial stretch goals.

It'd be kind of weird if they had multi-million dollar goals right off the bat, even if the possibility of reaching them was totally there.

Viva Pinata is pretty tight. I heard Nuts and Bolts was trash. This was from diehard BK fans who might have just not liked the changes though.

The characters alone have me excited just for the ability possibilities. Stretchy platformers are always fun and by always fun I mean like Ristar and Mario Galaxy 2 and not like Sonic Unleashed. All about momentum transfer.

Ive heard some people say NaB was alright before, I think its mostly Rare never making a true sequel to the series since the Microsoft acquisition and the fact NaB was in no way similar to the original games, to the point where the only relation was it had Banjo, Kazooie and Grunty in it.

Like, imagine Nintendo bought Capcom, and the first and only Street Fighter game they ever made was about a retired Ryu, who lived at some remote dojo somewhere and the game was like Animal Crossing.

Maybe the game is fun, "but wheres the fighting games" said everybody, "are fighting games even profitable anymore?" asked Nintendo, while demonstating you can waggle the wii controler to do tai-chi warm up poses.

But instead of Tai-chi, its building weird lego cars.

Something about the lizard creeps me out, but if that's all early footage then damn.

So many colours.

I didn't know there was footage. Just watched it. Delightful. Exactly what I was hoping for except I didn't see tongue swinging.

That was pretty much the only group of people I heard that dumped on that game.

To be fair, it also released at a point when no one wanted Banjo-Kazooie anymore in general. Platformers already weren't selling well anymore and they took a risk trying something new with it that not enough people were interested in at the time. Seems to be remembered a lot more fondly these days, but that doesn't change how it sold back then.

And to the point of Rare in general? That studio was going downhill well before they sold to Microsoft. They were real strong on SNES and the first half of the N64's life. Toward the end of the '90s, people started leaving rare in large groups and their games got worse. Or didn't evolve along with their contemporaries. Guess that's a matter of perspective. Their last handful of games across the N64 and Gamecube were just not very good at all.

Perfect Dark was such a shitty game that sold terribly, I agree.

Or Banjo Tooie, the game people are paying millions to get a sequel to. Hot garbage.

Or Jet Force Gemeni, a game many people I know (all dumbasses for sure) consider to be one of their favorite games of all time.

No, wait, those were good games, two of which sold millions, which came out when next gen was on the horizen. My bad.

Man, that post is full of eye-melting misspellings.

Jet Force Gemini is absolutely bad, yes. I am glad you agree. I don't think people who like it are dumbasses? I guess? I mean, I don't think I said that. Maybe I'm wrong and missed that. Or maybe you're just getting really angry over... man, I don't even know.

That was not very good, though. Nor was Donkey Kong 64. I enjoyed Conker's Bad Fur Day, but if we're being honest, it wasn't that great, either. Star Fox Adventures was just outright mediocre, which sucks, 'cause I was looking forward to it from before they even tossed the Star Fox name on it. Perfect Dark was okay, for its time, but a lot of that team left before the game finished and what was left at Rare didn't do anything remotely as good afterwards.

Seriously, Rare was already sinking in quality by then. It's one of the main reasons Nintendo didn't put up a fight and just sold their half of Rare to Microsoft for something like $350 million at the time. Their better years were behind them at that point and Microsoft was too ignorant to realize it.

But hey, this game is going to be made and the people who want it are probably going to love it. It really doesn't matter what those who have no interest in it have to say. Don't take too much stock in my opinion.

I'll say one thing about this game. It's got David Wise on-board. That means it's going to have a fantastic soundtrack.

This is the one that I actually wanted to post, but didn't know it by name. The soundtrack for this game is so goddamn long and fantastic.

Really digging the art and sound so far! Never played a Banjo-Kazooie game, but I'll be inclined to give this a go if it's on a platform I use.

They ported the games to the Xbox 360 at some point awhile ago, if you wanna give them a try.

I think the systems this is coming out on are gonna be PS4/XBone/WiiU, might include last gen at some point but I doubt it.

New screenshots and info released

The team mention that the past year has seen the “Playtonic team tripled in size, moved office and quietly slaved away on what would become the final form of Yooka-Laylee”, which involve the screenshots you can check out in the link provided above. The team did admit that they’re not ready to reveal “the game’s final, day-and-date release plan”, but they did say that they’re “getting close”. The plot was discussed, along with the collectibles.

Playtonic Games says more info will be coming in the new Edge Magazine on May 26, “on your favourite online channels and video platforms”, then at E3.

Pretty appropriate villain considering what most of those Ex-Rare developers had to deal with...
