Well, after a fairly off week where I slipped down to 1600 BP, I made it up pretty ridiculously easy today to bring me up higher than my previous best: 2600. Lost to a counter pick, so it's settled down around 2530-ish. I love how anytime I end up facing someone a second time, I can fucking see the Blanka counter-pick coming from like a light-year away. Good news is that at this point most people that counter-pick, only know that the matchup favors Blanka, but just have no idea what the fuck they're doing.
I scrubbed out today at my tourney. Our team captain and best player did not win a game. Our worst player did the best.
Also I'm wondering what my BP peak potentially is. I don't have my own account so it is kinda hard to judge. 3300 is the peak number I've seen, but then I lost 2 in a row. Then my friend whose account it is lost some more to put it under 3k.
I've been sucking worse than usual lately, losing to some pretty embarrassing strategies, and dropped from 2200 to 1800 bp. Partly happened because flash kick was actually coming out too slow, and I was getting beaten in the air by any jump with a fat hitbox, but a lot had to do with my own incompetence, since my timing was off for a good bit. :/
It totally sucks against the one thing it's designed to beat clean. It's like Guile forgot how to do the flash kick and is just doing a back flip kick with some see through piss yellow effect thing that does nothing, yelling "Flash/Somersault Kick!" so no one grows the wiser.
It should be a combo ender for me too, but I'm so awful at combos in general that I end up getting blocked. I really need to work on it, because I'm missing out on a lot of opportunities to punish some missed specials because of it.
Also getting beaten on the EX kick sucks, a lot. I should use his cr.HP more often, it is a good anti-air, but I've been getting beaten in the air by j.HK a lot. And since most people online are either Ken, Ryu, Sagat, or Akuma, all of whom have a pretty high priority air game, especially Sagat, I'm probably going to stop trying to win in the air and focus on the ground.
Guiles combos aren't exactly easy. I do a lot of cr.MP xx HK flashkick. You get a billion years to hit confirm. cr.lp, cr.lp, cr.mp xx flashkick is pretty damn hard, whats good though is if you drop the link and your cr.mp gets blocked you can always just sonic boom. I need to work on more combo stuff with him myself, but he's like my 4th character so w/e
What you want to do with EX flash kick is to do it very late. Only the first 5 frames are invincible, but it doesn't start hitting till frame 4, so it only gives you a 1/30th of a second window where you will win guaranteed.
Forgot to mention this. Online don't bother with st.HP or cr.HP as an antiair. You have to be really accurate with those, and the lag makes a difference, so it is easy to get stuffed/trade. Stick to late ex flash kick or air throw in general.
cr.MP gives a lot of time to do just about anything, I just need to have my hands recognize that I shouldn't flash kick when it's blocked. His links are pretty difficult, but Blanka's are definitely harder.
I really just need to work on my timing and speed, but knowing about where my invincibility is helps. I should look at some frame data sometime.
Not really. I think guiles sweep is like 4(20)4, so it just means it is active for 4 frames, not active for 20, then active for 4 again. It also inflicts 17 frames of blockstun. assuming the sweep is blocked on the first active frame of the first part, the person blocking has a 3 frame window to mash something out.
Well the problem is that Abel's ultra has 13 or 14 frames of start-up, and it only has upper body invincibility (I only know this from forum reading, as the SRK wiki does not have any notes on this). Thus, I can bust out ultra, but get knocked out of it anyway.
Also, the frame data doesn't tell you if multi-hit moves have the same amount of blockstun on every hit, which is annoying since it's tough to actually test it yourself.
And Guile's sweep was actually useful in ST. Kinda hilarious how incredibly worthless it is in SF4.

Vega's cr.mk is +5 on hit. His cr.mp has a 4 frame startup. Would this be a 1 frame link or a 2? It would be 2 right?
Two frame link. If the frame data says that something has 4 frames of startup, that means it hits on the fourth frame. Seems counter-intuitive to me, but apparently that's the way VF and Tekken frame data reads, and DIMPS chose to follow suit.
