You can make your own unit and let them fight in the battles. Apparently they're fully customizable. You can pick the gender, hair color, class and if they should wear a monocle or an eyepatch! Sweet

Unless they can talk to the other characters, like you can pick what to say and shit, man that's lame. And still, I think I would rather have them make an interesting character than play me.

From the link:

Similar to the Tactician feature in Blazing Sword, the player can make their own character who participates in the game's story. You can choose your own name, gender, appearance, starting class and background. There are many conversations that your character can have, such as gaining hints for upcoming battles or just getting intimate with your comrades. Not only that, but there will be brand new chapters that heavily involve your custom character.

Okay. Guessing there won't be support conversations outside of yourself, at for the moment though. Still. Awesome.

Never thought FE would get on the create your own character thing.

Fuck it. They're starting to kill the games for me. Not that they aren't fun in their own right, but support conversations were always a big draw for me. Huge draw. This is game number two likely without now. Hoping it's a trend that just affects the remakes, but I'm not optimistic.

With you on that one. Outside of the whole dying forever thing, they really don't got much else to separate it from the rest of the games like it.

Raging a bit that they're offering a mode that turns off permanent death, but it's optional so I guess it's not huge.

I'm somewhat insulted they'd put that in the game. Do they not trust their fans to play well?

This is going to be just like the PSP for me, I know it. "But it doesn't have that many good games... I'll wait it out a bit longer."

Then one day, the 3DS will have a library of things I want, which will be just big enough that I won't know where to start.

So who else wants to fight to the death over getting their favorite Japan-only FE ported over?

Doesn't mean they'll be bringing it over. They've been pulling that crap lately. Has me worried about this game.

They're sorta finally localizing their JRPGs, I know that Xenoblade is going to Europe.

Man, I really wanted Last Story.

You guys are getting all the obscure Wii RPGs. I am actually tempted to mod my wii just to play them.

Terranigma is where it all started for me. There have been many RPGs (or just Japanese titles in general, like Shenmue II) since then that Europe got that the States did not. I'm sure it's something that happened well before that game, but that's when I started taking notice.

I can't recall a game that was localized in Europe that I wanted but Policenauts wasn't localized even though Snatcher was pretty damn popular.

Went to Serenes Forest to see if they had some new info, and here is what they have:

Release date

Spring 2012 in Japan.

Features

Brand new game, not a remake!

A new option to perform a team-up attack with a second character, seemingly if they're close by.

Traversable world map, like in Gaiden and The Sacred Stones, where you can enter battles or purchase supplies from locations on the map.

Special skills like Astra (Ronku uses this in one of the trailers*) from Genealogy of the Holy War and Path of Radiance appear in battle.

Characters

Krom - blue haired male, main character? Wields the Binding (or Sealed) Blade "Falchion"
Vake - ash-haired male, mentions that they wield axes
Frederick - brown haired male giving information, wields a Silver Lance, obligatory early-game Paladin?
Jase - backs up Krom in a battle sequence
Liz - ash-haired girl with two side ponytails, Krom's sister?
Ronku - dark-haired male, seen using the Astra skill
Emelina - ash-haired girl with braided hair in front of her
Sumia - dark-haired girl with a feather ornament
Corpse soldier - an undead enemy force
Feria soldier - an enemy force

OMG YOU GUYS FIRE EMBLEM AWAKENING IS GETTING A EUROPEAN RELEASE. THIS PROBABLY MEANS THE US CAN EXPECT IT AT SOME POINT TOO. HUZZAH!

I'm pre-ordering this. I don't care that I don't have a 3DS yet.

I would hope so, but I'm not holding my breath. I'll believe it when I see it.

It being released in Europe means all the localization work will already be done, so they could release it in the States with little cost, but they still might not. I hope they do.
