Yes, definitely. It just wouldn't feel right to be Edgeworth on the left. Unless they like shifted the position of the judge or something so that it's like he's on the same side but from a different angle.
I think it's funny how much of Edgeworth you see in the gameplay. In the Phoenix Wright games, you rarely see Wright himself. In Edgeworth's game, you get his gorgeous mug on screen almost all the time. Capcom knows what their fans want. And they pair him with a rude, brash, over-masculine rival. Perfect.
They've given him an assistant... Because, really, what strapping young male attorney can get by without a pretty young assistant of dubious background? This one looks like a gypsy, or something, with a key in her hair. It'll be interesting to see what purpose she serves, because I figure she won't have spirit channeling moxie.
I honestly hope Phoenix makes a cameo in this game, given his and Edgeworth's history. You know Larry Butz will be thrown in somewhere. And yay, Gumshoe. He doesn't get the respect he deserves. I'll get this game... But I expect it to have good cases.

I agree. It suits him in a weird way, but it definitely wasn't what I heard in my head.
Ya'lls, I have a theory. Could possibly be spoilerish, so proceed at your own risk. I think I know who one of the GK killers is.
Spoiler for Possible Gyakuten Kenji spoiler:
It's the sports guy.
FIRST PIECE OF EVIDENCE: This magazine scan. Non-decisive, but pretty convincing if you ask me.
Note the silhouettes. Take a good look at the picture of the hand with the gun. Then look at the sports guy's hand. Same gloves. Plus the fact that YOU CAN SEE HIS FREAKING FACE. I mean look at this. Decisively the sports guy, holding a gun, in Edgeworth's office, presumably talking with the dead guy. Come ON.
SECOND PIECE OF EVIDENCE: The voice trailer. Non-conclusive.
This trailer showcases all the main characters. No sports dude to be found.
THIRD PIECE OF EVIDENCE: Repetition. Non-conclusive.
Sports Dude claims to be Edgey's rival. Then we get Overly Masculine Guy saying HE's Edgey's rival...enemy...whatever. Why would there be two of 'em?
It always seemed odd to me that you played a defense attorney in this series rather than a prosecutor. Defense attorneys have generally seemed more shady and unethical than their counterparts, so I would've assumed that they'd have found their initial character on the other side of the courtroom.
