One thing about this game that stays true to anime, it sucks at subtle foreshadowing.

That level with the moving train where you have to set a bomb is more difficult than I thought.

I love how horrible this game is at subtle foreshadowing.

I still laugh that there is literally a flying pig in their squad.

I didn't even realize that I could set up a lancer to take out all the tanks with the trolley at the beginning. I did it the stupid hard way and moved offensively, almost losing half of my soldiers on that bridge.

Once I took out most of my Scouts and made better use of the troop transporters, I did much better.

It's good just to start with Largo, Alicia and Rosie, and once you get to the first checkpoint, go from there. That's what worked for me, at least.

I'm still confused as to my tanks can't run over those blockades. I mean really.

I left Alicia at my main camp this time, then brought her down later. Scouts have it hard enough on that level -- I didn't want anyone bringing her down and leaving me one CP low that turn.

Oh, and bringing up all my units to Elite status also helped, I'm sure. Also, I have a crush on Capt. Varrot.

Sandbags? No problem. Street lamps? A ok. Small wooden structure? No chance in hell.

So yah, I was confused when Hace said flamethrowers were useless until I got them.

And he was right, I can't seem to find a single situation where they're actually helpful compared to my "Kill you in one clip" gun.

The Scout's grenade launcher, though? FUCK YAH I LOVE THIS THING. IT MADE MY FAVORITE CLASS EVER BETTER.

I actually did find the one thing they are use for, which is clearing those who are in sandbags, since there doesn't seem to be any damage removal.

BUT FUCKING FUCK YES GRENADE LAUNCHERS. I actually try not to use them sometimes to make maps a little more challenging.

I use flamethrowers for multiple enemies going prone in the grass.

Most epic use of the flamethrower was when in that Ghirlandio(sp?) Fortress, three lancers were all crouching in an extremely tight cluster (from halting in their tracks from interception fire) and then I had Jane run up to them and BBQ'd each and every single one. Her taunt was the icing on the cake.

Also, has anyone here tried out the DLC for this yet?

No, but I plan to download it once I beat the game.

So Valkyria Chronicles keeps getting better and better. All I have left is Ghirlandio. Unlocked everyone's Report, I think. I love Varrot's.

Well, I beat the game today, and the ending made me tear up several times. I honestly don't know if I can say it's my favorite game of all time, because Skies of Arcadia was the first game to show me true adventure. I'll say it's a tie.

I'm kicking the game's ass on a second playthrough. I've got all my best squad members back, all max level and with the best weapons I can find. I've got A's on nearly every story mission save two or three. A's on all reports -- I even unlocked the final report. I'm up to Naggiar now, and I'm looking forward to the challenge the later missions bring. I've got almost all the medals, save for about three. I don't ever plan to get The Splintered Horn -- I just can't bear to let anyone die permanently.

So, I've been getting killed repeatedly in this Jaeger mission. (The second-to-last battle, I think) Anyone care to give me some advice?

Edit: Also, I love using the Shamrock. I plow through everything with that tank.

Smoke rounds can help, but not a ton. Really, it's just a case of gritting through sometimes-tough losses and pushing through it.

Yeah, I've decided I'm picking this game up on Friday.

Without even owning a PS3.

The reason? It's disappearing off every shelf to make way for other titles, and I KNOW this is one of those Game of the Year type contenders. So, I'm going to grab it since there's very little chance of it becoming a greatest hits title or something akin to it.

So yeah, I'll be reading the manual for this, and that's about as close as I'm going to get to playing the game for a few months I'm afraid.

The last battle was easier than I expected, but Valkyria Chronicles is now one of my most favorite games ever, probably in my top 5. This made me happy that I bought a PS3 . I'm on my second playthrough, but my main goal is getting all the medals and that last report. I'm gonna get those extra downloadable missions pretty soon too.

Also, episode 6 of the anime made Isara and Marina awesome.
