I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I would fucking kill if this game had online/multiplayer. Whether it would be head to head or co-op, it would never get old.

It would also be a royal bitch for the PS3 to load. But for the epic, day-long battles that would no doubt ensue, I'm all for it.

Just watch them release VC2 in Japan only with that feature.

That first desert level is tough, yeah. Definitely doable, though. The Imps put out a metric fuckton of snipers, so best to carry your own to counter them.

None of my snipers could handle it except for Catherine, not even the desert bred ones, I set her up and used scouts to take that checkpoint near them.

I really hope VC2 has this. Or we get DLC that allows us to do so.

The tanks are moving cover. Take advantage of that.

Also, scouts are better for taking care of snipers than snipers are. Just use the snipers to help clear a path.

I use my snipers to take out the threats such as shock troopers and lancers, I don't really bother with snipers on account they're always in cover and I can't get a clear headshot on them.

I dunno if you already realized this, but when someone is in cover, they take reduced damage, and it doesn't matter where you shoot them. Basicially, you could go up to a lancer take cover with a shocktrooper, unload a full clip into their head, and they'll be a ok.

I knew that and I was talking about the fact that most of the time whatever I shoot is NOT in cover and I can get a kill in one shot. When somebody's in cover, no headshot.

I set up both my Snipers on the ridge to the East and took out their Snipers (and other forces) on the roof. Then I sent up one of my Engineers to keep resupplying my Snipers. It wasn't the best for cover, but once their Snipers were down it was easier. I used the East ridge as a feint, concentrating my attack there and baiting enemy troops into Sniper fire while slowly moving my main force of Scouts, Lancers and Shocktroopers forward.

The trenches in the North make advancing difficult, even though you can take refuge behind all the ruin walls. Find a way to take out their Lancers -- or simply advance your Tank with an Engineer constantly healing it -- then send the rest of your force in. Obviously Welkin has to stay alive. The Tank will be most of your cover throughout the match, though. Get it close enough to enemy soldiers that the Tank's machine gun turrets will counterattack them when it's the enemy's turn. You'll save a lot of CP if you plan for counterattacks properly.

It took me a long time to take the initial base because of my Sniper strategy, and because the enemy kept calling in reinforcements. I think the better strategy now is to use the Snipers as support in the beginning, making it their mission to take out enemy Snipers first. Then send forward your main force once you're clear of Snipers and wallop the first base with speed, manpower and Tank fury.

Once the first base is taken, you'll have to deal with a lot of enemy Snipers and Tanks. I think the best thing to do there is retreat your Snipers off the East ridge while your main force advances, and have your Snipers retreat. Do "base-hopping," as Capt. Varrot suggests. Once you've captured the first base, call back your two Snipers as reinforcements and have them set up camp on the roof near that first base you took. There's sandbags on a roof they can hide behind -- which is good, as the enemy will call out Sniper after Sniper with their reinforcements.

Let your Snipers go to town, use your Tank as cover throughout No Man's Land, and keep your soldiers in the trenches to avoid enemy Tank and soldier fire. Your Tank is crucial in this mission as a rolling wall. Hide your soldiers behind it, bring an Engineer to heal it, and let your Tank do the brunt of the work while using your soldiers behind it as support.

The dust storms provide good cover for scouts. Don't bother with the other units, they just get shot down.

I didn't have them at the time, but I can imagine that Elite Scouts would be sublime for this mission.

This is the first map where the enemy is constantly calling in reinforcements.

Also my lancers kept missing the tanks, so I'd rage.

The best way to take out tank is to get around them and go for the radiator.

I mostly use Largo for this since he's expendable.

You have to take the sniper's checkpoint as soon as possible, like around the first or second turn. I managed to capture it on the second turn.

Afterward, focus on destroying the two main tanks near the last checkpoint, the third tends to wander around to the right and shoots from a range, its an irritation at best but you can ignore it.

If you're far away, the reinforcements will consist of several snipers, so the important thing here is to destroy their cover. Use an anti-tank shell and destroy the battlements around the third checkpoint, then have your lancers focus on the two tanks. After they're destroyed, send in a scout and clear out the snipers with a grenade. If they're not bunched up, then just take them out with shock troopers.

Although...my scouts were at a higher level at the time, I think that's why I tend to use them more.

There's also an Imperial Ace Sniper in the far right corner under good cover, so your East flank might not be as safe as you think when you're heading up against the Northwest base.

Also, is the flamethrower good for anything? I can't think of anytime I would actually use it.

I haven't gotten that yet, I'm not gotten a chance to play after that second battle in the Woodland Snare chapter.

Still trying to figure out how to use enemy weapons without my unit's accuracy dropping to E.

Enemy weapons are only good if you enjoy firing at point blank. Just don't bother with them.

Accuracy has been my biggest problem, agreed. I'm going the Accuracy route on all my weapons. But here's my experience with Imperial weapons so far: they're great. Yes, the accuracy is crap. Somehow that hasn't made a difference yet. I have two Imperial sniper rifles at this point. The range is cut in half, but the personnel damage is doubled, at least. These rifles have made my Snipers almost unbeatable, as I can take out almost anything in one shot.

I haven't used any Scout rifles, since those lightweights need all the accuracy they can get. I have, however, given some Imp assault rifles to my Shocktroopers. They don't work well on defense, since the enemy usually has better range than you do. Considering, however, that most of my Shocktroopers run headlong into enemy fire and blast them with lead, these are great.

Bottom line: Even though the accuracy is advertised as being worse, it hasn't made a big difference for me. My squad members miss about as often now as they did before, but now they have more power. And more power is what I need.

When you upgrade weapons, does it only apply to the main ones or does it apply to all the weapons of that category? Because if you focus on accuracy, than the unit would have a better time aiming with them, right? But I only see the Gallian models in the R&D.

No, just the main ones.

At some point, you also start recovering special Gallian weapons. That's the best.

I've only seen the first episode, and I don't enjoy that it's taking liberties already -- I think the game's storyline should be left as-is, because I think it's great. I can understand they want to take some liberties, though. Still looking forward to it.

That's for every mission you get after rescuing the Gallian princess. The only drops she has that matter to me are the special, top-of-the-line Mags and Theimers she gives you.

On another note, I'm finally happy that I got the potentials unlocked for 4-5 characters. My squad's roster has actually been reduced to 15 people already, not including Marina, Nadine and Dallas.

Now to beat those Hard skirmishes and I'm done. That is, until the DLC comes out.
