That's really bizarre. Cause it was supposed to still be in closed beta. PC for sure still is. Looking up some extra info, it looks like it went Open beta for Xbox yesterday because they want to max stress test the servers.
PC was even extra boned as they sent some PC people Xbox codes instead. Hopefully it goes open beta soon. I've kinda been really looking forward to it, and after seeing the gameplay from streamers, it's extra true.
Stress test their servers? Maybe they figured "fuck it, we just flooded so many pc players with 1 or 2 extra xbone keys we mad as well make it open beta." I signed up for pc, got an xbone code, got a pc code a few days later, then got another xbone code the day after that.
So, the PC beta has been extended to all users who registered prior to 4 PM PST on the 15th. However, it might not show up in the game list until closer to midnight. Apparently those who already have it can't get in because the servers are so strained they can't get people in.
EDIT: At least it's in my list. Will find out if I get a chance to play it at some point during the day.
Yeah, servers don't seem to be straining right now. Just played for like an hour or so. Only lost the first match so far. Didn't do great initially, but everything turned around once I got my first Titan.
EDIT: Is there like some unspoken code that people just don't use the Smart Pistol? Granted, I only played an hour, but it seems strange that only once did I encounter someone who was using it.
I tried the smart pistol. It took me a bit to break my habit of stealth kicking people instead of stealth locking them. It is nice how it only takes one to three shots to kill even if you manually aim it, though. I'm trying out the shotgun now (I like)

It's not as powerful as you would think. Waiting for that lock is time you could be pulling the trigger or dying yourself already. Seemed awesome in practice mode, but in matches? Not as much. Not unless you're always sneaking up behind people, in which case, I guess it wouldn't be that bad? Still, they could be dead already.
I traded it out for a shotgun the moment I unlocked custom loadouts.
I've been popping people like zits with the sidewinder. I know it's an anti-titan weapon, but I don't know what the downside of using it on people is. Maybe its inaccuracy at range? I tend to like close range, heavy hitting weaponry anyway.
I'm like 99% sure I read that experience will not transfer over. I can't think of any game off the top of my head that allows you to transfer XP from Beta into retail. Kind of super unfair to new players.
On the one hand, it's not like the levels are going to give you any real advantage over other players. On the other, who cares? If I remember right, the beta level cap is 14 and you can get to it in no time. Not a huge deal.
I was on an epic killstreak of 8 people in a short amount of time. One guy kept coming back for more (5 of those kills were him running into my shotgun or foot). I call down a titan from inside a building, hop in, and...
It explodes with me in it. It decided to drop halfway in the upper part of the building, and I didn't see this until it was too late.
EDIT: Like, really, I would have had a 9-0 game if that hadn't happened D:
Apparently this game is going to have monsters in certain stages, too. They're supposed to be environmental hazards and, so long as you leave them be, many of them won't attack you. Some will apparently rip you to pieces of you fuck with them, though.
