I asked this in the pump depot, but i'm making this thread in case the post gets lost

I'm going to buy one that's 2TB (maybe a bit more than i really need) and drop around 3000 Bs, but i haven't seen that much reviews about it. So, im consulting you guys before i drop some serious cash in it.

My options are somwehat limited. the brands and models that are sold around here are:

ADATA 500GB

SONY 1.0TB

HITACHI TOURO 500GB/1TB

SEAGATE Backup Plus Portable (I think) 2TB

I know that there are better brands but that really goes out of my budget (way too much). and if you ask why i didn't buy earlier, personal and family expenses gets in the way most of the time.

I have a 250GB USB powered Seagate HDD.

Never had a single issue, built pretty solid too.

I've had Seagates before, albeit smaller sizes for anime storage. The one I'm currently using now is Western Digital that I ended up switching to because one of the Seagates failed me and it was on sale. The failed Seagate was a replacement for the other Seagate that I learned was too small too late.

The WD 500GB Passport has done me well even though I have mistreated it over the time I've had it.

That's just my history with them.

The other brands I've not touched.

Like Slice, I use the WD 500 GB Passport. Probably unlike him, though, I have two. Got them both through my school. If you can get them, I highly recommend them. If you can't, I can try shipping one to you, depending on international shipping rates.

Yeah, I'd go with Western Digital if at all possible, all of my HDDs are WD and none have failed me yet within the 2-5 years I've owned them. Two in a RAID configuration in my main PC, another two in a Synology NAS box, another as a secondary storage in my main PC, and one more in a living room PC I built about three months ago.

this seems to be the fee. i think i can cover it, but i fear that the package might get stuck here through customs or stolen.

I'll try too look into WD, albeit with more capacity because i could and will eat 500GB in a jiff because i download a lot of graphic resources as well as previous projects that are heavy in file size.

Right now, between 4000 Bs. (translated to US currency is around 200$ or less. Prices are ruled by the black market dollar) i could save up to 5 but knowing myself, there will be something that will need to be bought and it will come out of my pocket and will be expensive.

And im trying to save up money for something personal (not confirmed yet), so my budget is somewhat tight.

Note: black market dollar fluctuates a lot, so, items go up in price.

Yeah, I can't imagine the WD hard drives being anything close to $200, but you might want to check on that. 1TB should be doable.

oh believe me, i know that it doesn't cost $200 in US or CAN markets, but that's what we pay when you do the black market conversion.

True, I suppose. Hm. If shipping it is too unreliable, as you seem to say, then I probably shouldn't do so, eh?
