Default Hotline Miami

Nobody else made a thread for this? Eurogamer gave it a 10/10, which is something. Super violent 8-bit game set in the late 80's, getting sort of a GTA vibe off it.

It's the same kind of die over and over replay till you get it right like Super Meat Boy. Controls are as sharp and unforgiving as said game too. Also features an awesome thumping soundtrack that only makes the neon violence more trippy.

Already gone through the missions twice because it's so much fun.

live-action trailer (another more grotesque/graphic one here)

Some more gameplay and a taste of the soundtrack.

Get it on Good ol Games (DRM free) or Steam. About $9

Looks interesting.

Even more interesting to me is that there is an unironic CSI thread in the similar threads list. Never knew that existed. Who would do such a vile thing?

This game is invoking Drive so hard, that I can't help but buy it

I am really enjoying it so far, it's kind of like playing an 8-bit Natural Born Killers with the soundtrack from Drive. The police station level is kicking my ass though.

No.

Spoiler for How to get Hotline Miami True Ending:

Hit Esc, check the PUZZLE option. You get puzzle pieces by finding them with the Rasmus mask equipped. You can check what levels you got the pieces in through the CHAPTERS menu. They're the little purple squares. Sometimes a body can cover one up.

You should then get a password for the computer in the final level. Use the password and you'll find out what's been going on all this time.

I got this a few days ago and have already beaten it, got both endings, and collected ever animal mask. Anyway it's fucking amazing and I love it to death, especially the soundtrack and atmosphere.

This game is fun as fuck. I curse like crazy playing it though, but it's awesome. You feel like a god of death when you pull stuff off well.

Beat this last night, it's definitely in my top ten this year. Probably the best ten bucks I ever spent.

I still haven't gotten the true ending.

Spoiler for just in case:
Missing a W and an O. Been through all levels twice now without finding them.

Reviving this thread because the sequel came out and is overall fantastic. It's harder and in my opinion a lot of that comes from some questionable level design, but still great, and the story is phenomenal, not to mention the soundtrack which is one of the best I've ever heard.

Edit: Embedded best track

Guess I'm not the only one noticing the upped difficulty.

Stuck on that second Soldier stage. He has the worst gameplay of all the new characters I have tried so far.

Really? Being able to switch between knife and weapon is pretty damn good.

I didn't care for the limited ammunition, but overall I didn't have any problems at all when replaying his levels with the shotgun instead of trying out new weapons.
