So, after reading the tragic end of Addy's Nuz run, I finally feel like getting started on my own. Seeing as I'm far into SS, I thought about using a rom of Pearl on my R4 to do it, but I figured screenshots would be nice. Seeing as I've never played it, I'll be doing a run on Emerald.
- Your Pokemon faints, it dies.
- Pokemon Centers only, no healing/status items outside of battle.
- First non-duplicate Pokemon per route, if you kill it, too bad.
- Nickname every Pokemon.
Spoiler for And so my journey begins...:
So here, I am... sitting in a truck. I'm on my way to a new home in a new town. It's some place called Littleroot. There was an accident back in my original hometown. I nearly died, that's why my hair's white. Anyway, my Dad decided he wanted to move us out here. He's taking over as the gym leader in Petalburg. Looks like the truck is coming to a stop, better go ahead and hop out.
My Mom is waiting for me outside the truck as she welcomes me to our new home. It's an okay little town I guess. It's not very big, but that's okay, I kind of like the quiet. At least it's better than that truck. Riding around with all our stuff isn't exactly the most comfortable thing in the world... Anyway, we should probably check out our new home.
Looks like the movers use their pokemon to take care of the heavy lifting and other stuff. I best stay out of their way and let them do their work.
I decided to pay our neighbor a visit. She lives in the house right next to us... Come to think of it... It's the only house in the same town. Our neighbors have a daughter named May. She's kinda cute and she seems pretty friendly. I'm sure we'll be good friends. As it turns out, her dad is Professor Birch. He owns the laboratory in town. May cut our meeting short to get ready to help her dad fill up something called a Pokedex. It's some kinda device that records data about pokemon she meets or captures. Since she's busy I decided to go visit the lab, but Birch wasn't in. I decided to explore outside the town, but as soon as I reached the outskirts, I immediately heard a cry for help.
Looks like it was Professor Birch. He left his bag of Pokemon on the ground and got ambushed by a wild Zigzagoon. I took a Treecko out of his bag and battled with it. After a tough fight, I eventually brought it down. Birch thanked me and told me to meet up with him back at the lab. There he decided to let me keep the Treecko. I decided to name him Booster. He seems like a tough little fighter. I hope to get stronger together in the future. While looking at the pokeball and admiring my first pokemon, thinking how Dad would be proud I was following in his foosteps, Birch piped up again and told me that I should go find May who was out helping him with the pokedex. I told him I'd find her.
After some traveling, I eventually got to the next town of Oldale. I healed up Booster and went looking for May.
After searching around for a little while, I did manage to find May outside town. She decided to introduce me to the world of pokebattling she challenged me to a friendly match. Her Torchic was tough, but I managed to win. She seemed pretty impressed, and I felt proud of Booster. She told me to meet her back in Littleroot and I chased after her as best I could. I managed to catch up to her in her dad's lab. There he told me he'd like me to help with his research and gave me a pokedex. I gladly accepted the pokedex and agreed to help out as best I could. We said our goodbyes and I started my trip to Petalburg to find my Dad.
On my way to Petalburg I fought with a lot of wild pokemon and several trainers. I did manage to catch a Lotad though. I took a good look at him and decided to name him Josue. While fighting through more trainers and wild pokemon, I got ambushed by some young kid who had a Taillow. That was a tough fight because both my pokemon were grass types and his Taillow could use peck. I rushed to bring it down as fast as possible because there was no way I was going to lose to him.
It felt like an eternity, but I eventually made it to Petalburg. I visited the pokecenter and healed up Josue and Booster then decided to pay my Dad a visit.
There he introduced me to a boy by the name of Wally. He seemed pretty shy and unsure of himself. He was moving to a new town to live with his relatives, but he didn't want to travel alone and watched to catch a pokemon. My dad let him borrow one of his, a Zigzagoon, and I followed him out of town to make sure he caught a pokemon. As it turns out, he caught himself a Ralts. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little jealous of his new pokemon. Not only did it look cute, but I could feel it would become fairly strong. That said, I believe in Josue and Booster. I know they'll carry me far. With his new pokemon with him, Wally returned the Zigzagoon to my Dad and he left to go to his new place with his relatives. My dad understood that as a new trainer I would want to battle gym leaders, but told me that I'd need some more practice under my belt before I could challenge him. I don't doubt this for a moment. I've watched him battle before and he's amazing. One day I'll be better than him and I'll come back to claim his badge. With his words in mind I began my trek to the next town. Before leaving town I was confronted by a man in sunglasses who was looking for powerful trainers. He took one look at me and passed me off as just another kid. I wasn't too happy about it, but I am just a rookie trainer. I won't fault him too much, but I don't get a particularly good vibe from this guy.
Along the way to the next town I ran into a Wurmple. After a short fight I managed to catch him. I expect a lot from him and his little head reminds me of a crown. I decided to name him Monarch. I made a quick trip back to the pokecenter and went back out to travel to the next town.
Alright, I'm too lazy to do the usual story associated with the pictures like I've been doing, so I'm gonna do the lazy ass way.
Spoiler for Petalburg Woods:
Monarch evolved from a Wurmple to a Silcoon. I can't wait to see him hatch into a Beautifly. I also caught a Poochyena shortly thereafter. I named her Celes.
I encountered a man who was threatened by some man saying he was with some group called Team Aqua. He then turned on me when the man looked to me for protection. He challenged me to a battle, but he was quickly dispatched. Monarch made quick work of his Poochyena.
As thanks for protecting him, he gave me a Great Ball.
After the battle, Monarch evolved again into Beautifly. I expect great things from him.
So, I just did a lot more research into the necessary FBI qualifications. As I stand now, I've got literally no chance of making it. I might not need an advanced degree, but at the minimum it'll be another 3 years before I could join. I can either 1) go for a Juris Docotrate and apply as a Special Agent going for the Law Entry program, 2) use my BAs and try to get a professional job for at least 3 years and go in under the Diversified program, 3) get an advanced degree and get at least 2 years of professional work and still go in under the Diversified program, or 4) Do either 2 or 3 and go for a career in Law Enforcement which would satisfy the professional job experience, plus would allow me the Law Enforcement experience they're looking for as a critical skill. Plus, if things don't really pan out, or I need more job experience, I can expand to the SWAT and then continue to the FBI from there, and since I'd already have experience with the high stress and critical decisions necessary for that job, I could then try and apply for the Hostage Rescue Team after a couple years with the FBI. I keep telling myself I couldn't be HRT because it would mean that if something went wrong during a hostage situation it would haunt me forever because I'd be wondering if it was something I did that caused an unnecessary death. If the FBI wouldn't take me if I was already in SWAT, then well, I'd already be in a job I think I'd be okay with sticking with.
So yeah, Freddy, I might be seeing you in a year or so. There's no way I'd try for a police officer in Dallas. I'd be shot on the first day and my goal is to live long enough to at least apply to the FBI.
