We have a lot of coins. No bills below $5, and we have $1 and $2 coins.

Our 50s and 100s are made of plastic, which is a new thing, and I've been hearing a lot or rumors that we're just plain getting rid of the 1 cent coin.

Besides all of that, our currency is pretty much the same as US currency, with different pictures.

At about the ages of 5 I ate a quarter, it tasted like metal and gave me many digestive problems.

no no no, I meant the new plastic ones. I've heard rumors they're indestructible and smell like maple syrup.

I've heard rumors that some peoples bills would melt with enough summer heat, enough to get stuck together. True or not, they're far from indestructable, and once crumpled are nearly impossible to flatten back out.

Also, they just smell like normal plastic.

... and it didn't go so well. Because of my lack of extracurricular activities, I'm unqualified for the one position I thought I'd be perfect for, and the others I'm only barely qualified.

I'm starting to wish I had the grades for other options, college and such. I never did get over my dreams of being an archeologist, it was all grades and schooling that held back that from being a reality.

All I can do right now is hope I can pass the tests I need to for what positions I do qualify for, because they're the few options I have left, in general, not just military. Unless I can find some rich spouse who wants me to stay at home, but what are the chances of that happening?

A bit of an armor piercing question from my father today...

Quote:
What will you do if the military doesn't accept your application?
... Goddamn.

He's right, if they don't, which seems likely at this point, I'm screwed. Nobody is hiring, and I assumed the military was an easy Plan B. That was probably stupid of me, no way the military would be a simple career to get into unless I applied into combat... which isn't going to happen.

Now I'm asking myself, what do I do if the military doesn't accept me, or I chicken out? Even if I get hired by someone here, it'd likely be just another minimum wage job that won't get me anywhere. All of my dream jobs are just out of reach because the education is too expensive...

*sigh* This is depressing as hell. The career I don't even want is my only chance at a decent life, and I might not be able to get it, and there's no good alternative.

I think at this point, the military, as a career, is non going to happen.

I was looking at a practice aptitude test, and I can't answer a single question with any sort of certainty, and this practice test is, exact words "Much, much easier than the actual test you'll have to take."

I have to pass the actual test to even be considered. Which is never going to happen is a million years. I'm fucked.

I'm going to wait for an opportune time to tell my parents, then start thinking of other options. I am so completely lacking any hope for my future right now...

Is it really that bad? Is it something you can study for?

http://www.psc-cfp.gc.ca/ppc-cpp/tes...-index-eng.php

This is the practice test.

The other 2 resources are a textbook not available in our library, and a website that costs $119 to access.

Maybe I'm just tired or something, but this practice test is kicking my ass, I've been looking it over and over and... I feel like I'd have better luck trying to learn Japanese in these 5 days that I have before the real test.

This test isn't even the last obstacle, there's other things I need to do.

I honestly think this is a sign that the military just isn't for me, and that I should think of something else, something more suited for me instead of just giving up and joining the military. It was never something I wanted, always a last resort.

Maybe I can save up for college? Or move to a country with a high minimum wage and lot's of free benefits? Or be a trophy husband to some rich lawyer...

From looking at that, I don't think you should give up. Continue to read the practice test, comprehend what you're strong and weak with, and then work on the things that are more difficult for you. Maybe talk to your parents, and ask them if they'll help with purchasing the books or other study material.

That really isn't difficult stuff, and I really think you'd be able to get it if you just cleared your head and went through it again another day.

Yeah, I need to take a break, regardless, my mind is just numb at this point and even if this was grade school work I'd be struggling.

I'm thinking of looking at some other options still though, even if I do end up getting this stuff eventually, a military career is still not what I want to do for a living. We'll see if it's even an option on Tuesday when I take this test.

No, that's a sign that you don't want to make the effort. I know. I've done it many, many times. Doesn't mean the military is for you, but if you can make the effort and you're not, that's on you, not fate.

I'm not saying it's fate, I'm saying if I'm having this much trouble over one test, an easier version of the test in fact, that it's a sign that this might not be a career suited for me.

How far down this test did you get before quitting?

I read through to about question 35, trying to answer them to the best of my ability, just glancing at the last 15.

Sorry I even brought it up, I really don't want this to turn into a thing so I'm just going to stop talking about it.

Why are you sorry you brought it up? I think you're more imagining this is turning into a thing than is actually the case. I was just asking a question.

Ok, yesterday I think I was just really tired, frustrated and not in the sunniest of moods, looked the practice test over again earlier today and had less of an issue. Still challenging, but not impossibly hard.

Sorry if I sounded all moody and depressed, yesterday was just a really bad day for me.

New thing happening, the driving school I was going to, shut down completely, and they still owe me 8 more hours of lessons. So, my parents are kinda pissed at them.

Ha, that sucks. Driving is easy though. You should be able to just do it with your parents, and then go to the DMV and take the test.

I think the big plus was that is made my insurance cheaper if I passed the class? Something along those lines, dunno if I still get that now.

EDIT: I just asked, and no we don't, so more reason for my parents to write angry e-mails to them.

Ah yeah. You can always ask your insurance company if they have a program to help lower your insurance. I remember my parents had one where I kept a journal of my driving, and they went over it every week and signed off on it or something. After 3 months of that, they turned it in and it lowered the cost.

I think it automatically lowers after you turn 25, too. That might just be here. Also, you can indeed take some courses or jump through extra hoops to lower it. Mine is pretty low, and my sister's is slightly more(she has a lead foot, though).

It'd be nice if I could wait until then but my parents would never allow it.

Honestly, I'd much rather just bike and use public transport, or find a very patient wife/husband who's a good driver. Or even hire someone if I made enough money.

Cars are gross, let's go back to riding horses and ferrying rivers.

Cars are awesome. Driving a car is fun. The frustrating part is having to share the road with other people. Truly, you need to only drive early of a morning and late of an evening like me so you have lower possibilities of accidents. For me, accelerating into a turn is a lot of fun. Nobody else likes when I accelerate into a turn, though.

According to my parents, the people in this town are really bad drivers, and I kinda agree because I've seen some stupid stuff while out and about that people have done.
