I think I touched on this before somewhere, but I think it'd be pretty cool to have a consumer board. There's quite a few threads that already exist which could be moved there.
For example Wicked Sick Deals and Recent Purchases could be moved there from the gaming boards and then they won't specifically be about games, which they aren't where they are anyway. Then there's the Post Your Cool Stuff and Stuff You Want threads in imagery which could be moved there.
As for where it'd go, maybe replace the Techie Garage? It doesn't seem to get muuuch use as is, and there could be a Tech Problems thread in the Consumer Board? Just an idea. The Recommended Software thread could also be moved there. There's the Apple thread too.
As for what else would be there, could post reviews of things you bought, or talk about new announcements of products. Could have a car thread if people are interested in motoring (which I have no idea if anyone is), or a Designer/Collectable Toy thread which I'm sure me and Deej would fill up pretty fast. There'd be an Apple thread so there could be a Microsoft thread. Then have the old stuff which the Tech Garage was used for like suggestions for laptops or phones or whatever.
So basically it'd just be turning the Techie Garage into more than just tech.
I'm not 100% on it, just thought I'd throw it out there for discussion. Hope this doesn't seem like a "I'm a mod now so I want to change everything" thread, been mulling it over for a while now and just thought I'd post it. Also I hate the name "Consumer Board", I just can't think of anything else to call it right now.
I've been thinking of getting rid of the Chinfish Saga board for a while. Trimming some fat, you know. It's not really used and that stuff could be put in In The Media. I didn't think we needed the tech board when it was first added, and told Gabby so, but we got it anyway. I don't think we really need a consumer board, either, buuuuut... I think something more general that encapsulates the two would be alright?
I just don't know what it would be termed. Like, what could we call it that'd be broad enough to contain the purposes of both other boards, but not so broad as to be redundant?
