The newest and latest creation from Sega and Three Rings; a dungeon crawler-esque MMO that's a combination of Phantasy Star Online, The Legend of Zelda, and a dash of Monster Hunter.
The story is pretty simple; you crash-landed on this new planet and are a tiny robot thing. Which, btw, is fucking adorable.
And you fight the monsters that live inside the planet. The entire thing is mechanical - you go deeper into the machine that is the planet, the Clockworks, and fight more and more powerful monsters.
Combat is simple; press Z to attack, X to defend, spacebar to shift between weapons (default is sword and gun, and you can later upgrade to bombs), and if you don't like it, you can change every aspect of the controls.
Weapons and armor can be purchased from the shop, or the usually easier route of just going in, killing monsters, and using their parts to craft bigger and better things.
One of the things that sets Spiral Knights apart from most MMOs, at least that I've played or heard of, is the energy system.
Firstly, there are two kinds of energy. Crystal and Mist. You start the game with 100 Mist, and every 24 hours you regenerate that 100 back. You cannot get more than 100 Mist energy (so if you leave your character sit for a week you can't have 700 stored up or something).
Crystal energy can be obtained in a few methods, and you can have as much of it as you want. However, you typically need to buy it - you can either spend cash (it's quite reasonably priced, honestly), or you can pay in-game currency to buy it. They have a nifty little trade tab set up so you can just do it all in a few clicks; automatically buy/sell at a whim.
Energy is used to basically play the game. You need energy to power the elevators to go down into the dungeon. In the training stage, you spend 5 energy to go down a floor. Once you "graduate" into the full game, however, it costs 10 energy per floor.
If you die, it costs 2 energy to revive yourself the first time (per visit), doubling each time until you can't afford it anymore or choose to go back up to the surface. (If you go back in and die again, it resets to 2.) So that's something to keep in mind!
Energy is also used in crafting new weapons via the Alchemy system, which is mostly explained in-game. Costs a certain amount to craft weapons, basically. (Even still it's fairly cheap until you get to later levels, which by then, you can usually afford to buy energy with your in-game moneys.)
Also don't try to be sneaky and have alternate characters to bypass the 100-a-day energy rule - it's bound to your computer, so even different accounts entirely will share energy pools. Believe me, we have tried.
Profanity and I have been playing for a bit and we're currently ... well, pretty established. We're in the process of making a guild for all of us!
Guilds also have this nifty little Guild Hall where you can all meet up and chat, which can be accessed by clicking the gear icon in the upper-left corner. (The Guild Hall option obviously won't be there if you're not in a guild.)
We are Team Rocket. Please to be joining our guild.
Aaand that's about it!
Profanity and Addy are our character names, and we'll answer any questions and things. <3 COME JOIN US.
HELPFUL SHIT :
This here is a list of all of the recipes that we know. Weapons and armor can be crafted, and if say, I have the recipe for something you needed, you could give me the materials and I could craft it for you, saving you the potentially thousands of crowns necessary to BUY the recipe in the first place.
Feel free to edit your own in, too. http://tinyurl.com/TeamRocketRecipes
And any questions? This Wiki is quite informative!
But feel free to ask and etc.
Also if you're like Jake and don't know how to read - THIS GAME IS FREE TO PLAY
. Cash is optional and not necessary in the slightest.
