This is a more recent one, but still a couple years old. What do we think of Beast (that's the Canadian one, not the Korean boy-band)? I only just found out about them while researching French contraltos to help me work out a voice for that SR character I've been whining about. I find their sound interesting. On Amazon their debut album has very few reviews (but all good).
You know, that music video is starting to look familiar. Like someone had linked me to it at some point, or something.
Foo Fighters and Fleet Foxes are floating around the web now. I've been listening to both, and both are aces. Wasting Light might be the Foo's best even, but I need to listen to it a few more times first.
Alright, so a while ago in IRC I was talking to like Monocle, Hoogie, Sto, and Ves about hip-hop and rap or whatever and they gave me a few people to go listen to. I've gone and listened to Gambino and Lupe (though that was before they gave me a list of dudes), then I went and listened to: Kanye, Kid Cudi, The Roots, k-os, and Common.
I do not remember who else I was supposed to go listen to. I'd like that list because well, right now I am currently listening to Common and I liked everyone else a lot sooo. . . yeah.
always been one of those genres that I'd really love to get more into but feel intimidated by. been a long time fan of MF DOOM, De La Soul and Nas and I'd be lying if I said I didn't love My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
I think I'll go check out the artists Naff mentioned.
Just picked up the Foo Fighter's latest album, and it's pretty good. Rope is probably my favorite song at the moment, but I haven't gotten much of a chance to really listen to a good chunk of the album yet, so that's still to be seen. I like the sound of it, though. It's nice and old school, and apparently they wanted to aim for that to the point they actually recorded it in Dave Grohl's garage, which is pretty awesome.
Behold, my mastery of the mammal haiku!

It's probably my favourite album this year in terms of consistency. It's obviously not as good as Hospice, but it's definitely their second best. At least with this album I can choose to listen to The Antlers and not get sad. It's also a bit shoegazy at some points. I like this.
I love this band. Uk Hardcore is all over the place right now, shit loads of crappy bands but there are some guys out there that don't give a shit about scenes making amazing records.
I just got my King of Limbs "Newspaper album" in today. I'm a little disappointed, but also a little excited. The newspaper it comes with is basically the booklet for it and is going to have a fairly short shelf-life (by design), but, that means I get to find a way to preserve it (need to keep it out of sunlight until I figure out how though). I do wish I was anywhere near where they were handing out the limited newspaper though. This is my first piece of vinyl I've owned since I was a little kid, but, I don't think I'm going to start collecting it or anything.
Oh man since I've been grounded, I somehow found like a thousand new bands to listen to. So far I've checked out these:
Foxy Shazam - Foxy Shazam
Arena rock (or so I was told) and it is just full of great and wonderful catchy tunes.
fun. - Aim and Ignite
Indie pop because I love that type of sound and they do it fairly well
Arrogant Sons of Bitches - Three Cheers for Disappointment
Ska punk band and its a pretty great pick-me-up album
Little Comets - In Search of Elusive Little Comets
My second favorite band from all the new ones I've found just behind Foxy Shazam. Reminds me a lot of Vampire Weekend and makes me happy when i listen through the album.
So I'm going to this tomorrow. I was pretty pissed when I missed the first one because it had The Protomen covering Queen but I guess this is pretty wicked too.
It's all local bands covering 90s hits. I'm pumped

Fuck you Beev. The Blue Album and Pinkerton are fucking great.
Beev is cool people when you don't try talking to him about music. I'd just let it be... like the song!
I guess I should mention here that I've been listening to a lot more Mountain Goats and I Am Kloot lately. I also keep meaning to pick up the newest Twilight Singers album, but always forget to. 'Cause I suck.
