Haven't played it since my DS busted, but Planet Puzzle League used to be this for me.

Right now, I'd have to say Titan Quest: Immortal Throne.

Ah, okay. We'll set up a game some time, then. Haven't played in a while because I've had other things to do and other games to play, so I probably stink more than usual.

Strider I (would have 2 as well if I owned it)

^^seconding Mario Tennis for Gameboy (color), Mario Tennis in general

If I had an RPG I can play on nothing but a whim, it would probably be Fire Emblem 7, though it might not be my absolute favorite in the series

Brawl if I have somebody to play with (gotten a little past tired of online, though), I like Melee enough but I always get gloomily serious about how I play (meaning can't execute for shit since I haven't practiced up to it, and I spend time in infinite versus mode with Captain Falcon doing random practices then play the game with somebody and see not much improvement).

Team Fortress 2

Super Punch Out

King of Fighters 98 which I have lost, I would put Guilty Gear along with it if what I think is the bar for competence wasn't so high

Starfox 64

I kicked the shout out of every nook and cranny of SF64 when I was a lad.

Did it allllllllllll.

All. Like even before it was a meme I could recite most of the script of that game.

Which is sad to realize but that's ok.

Resident Evil 4. Beat it so many times, across every system it came out for. Tetris. Super Smash Bros. Melee. Mario Kart 64. I also really enjoy Quest 64 for some odd reason.

Hell yeah. There's just something so damn satisfying about that game. Must've beaten it a jillian times, both gamecube AND Wii editions. I actually haven't had it for a while though.

A regular run, then a treasure grabbing run, a subsequent "Use all this awesome shit I unlocked and can now afford" run, then the next difficulty, and the process repeats.

And I'm really glad the Wii version came with the PS2 extras added.

Shit, I need to get that game again.

Also CoD4, Bioshock, Metal Gear Solid 3, Metroid: Fusion. I'd like to find Metroid again though.

In the past two releases, they've completely overhauled the checking engine to make all the checks more situation and physics based, as well as adding in motherfucking first person fighting. So I'd say you're at least partially right.

Awesome. Sounds like a wonderful rental then. Get drunk, have some epic hockey shenanigans, maybe score a goal here or there.

I was so cheesed off by how disappointing Resident Evil 5 was. A lot of the enjoyment of the last on was gone.

Smaller, more contained "levels". Stiff controls. A shitty storage system that replaced the attache case, which I really liked. It was satisfying to get it all nice and sorted just right so you could fit more stuff in.

And of course the fucking partner A.I. At least Ashley would stay the fuck out of your way, AND WOULDN'T WASTE FUCKING HERBS.

That and it felt less spooky. Not "Scary" because Resi 4 wasn't scary either, but Resi-4 had a nice balance of action and campy creepiness. 5 felt too much like a generic summer blockbuster.

Resi-4 was a good game for newcomers, because it had it's own contained plot, and you didn't need to know a lot of the backstory.

Pardon the rant.

Resident Evil 4 was way more spooky. You're right. That friggin' garden maze with the dogs from Hell always scared the crap out of me. I agree with you completely though, 4 was a lot more fun than 5. I did enjoy 5 though, just not as much.

Ocarina of Time is pretty much the only game I've ever wanted to play through multiple times. I've even done runs of it to challenge myself.

That and Dynasty Warriors 4. That game is like collection rolled with fun. With some skill.

In the past, Fire Emblem, which I must've played about 30 or 40 times before it was sold along with my GBA. Which, I really regret doing.

Now, Fallout New Vegas, Starcraft 2, Timesplitters Future Perfect, Persona 3 and 4, and the MGS series in general, are all games that fit the description.

Megaman games

WoW

Final Fantasy games

Various fighting games. SF, MVC, Soul Calibur.

Anything with guns and (online usually) multiplayer. I'm not huge into them, but anytime I'm at a friends house or I just want to kill some time by myself, Halo and Call of Duty usually do the trick. Killzone 2 /3 are fun too but nobody has those around here, including myself. :<

Edit: Oh!! Anything side scrolling (especially with multiplayer) I LOVE side scrolling games. Megaman included up there ^. They're just so simple and fun to play. Castlevania, Metroid, TMNT: Turtles in Time, Castle Crashers, etc. Love that shit. Recently played "Shoot Many Robots" with a friend at his house and it was pretty great. Metal slug is fun too!
