Default Have you ever read a book?

(note: While I do enjoy comics quite a bit, try to keep it to books, not Watchmen).

The Game of Rat and Dragon by Cordwainer Smith.

I picked up Darwin's On The Origin of Species.

I felt like a retard halfway through the introduction.

Mostly read Discworld books lately, but I'm taking a break from them for a while (I think I'm running out of books stocked by the local library anyway). Currently reading Summer Knight, the fourth Dresden Files book; been looking forward to getting to a certain line from this book ever since I started on the series.

Rereading my Harry Turtledove collection. Gotta love what he does to history.

This thread's old name just had to return, didn't it?

I should pick up a good, long book from the library like I used to.

That must be awesome.
I must go out and get many leather-bound books now.

Anyway, back on topic, next week I'm getting the series of Series of Unfortunate Events. Since I only ever watched the movie, the books should be quite different and entertaining.

I have like 5 big boxes filled with books on the attic. Currently I'm reading the stories of 1001 Arabian Nights. Almost done with book 5, 3 more to go. After that I'll probably begin reading The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

I also advise watching the movie while listening to commentary from the director and the REAL Lemony Snicket

I had to read that for my psych class, and it was very good. I need to head to the library to see if they have The Restaurant at the End of the Universe

Yes. I read books on occasion.

Right now, I'm sort of simultaneously going through a few books.
Specifically: Guards! Guards!, A Game of Thrones, and Brisingr.

What can I say? I like fantasy.

Having just finished the readings for my lit class, I'm probably going to pick up something by Jeff Long. If found "Year Zero" to be a good book.

A good friend recommended me A Game of Thrones. Is it any good?

Also, just finished Stephen King's The Shining the other day. I loved it.

Just finished One Flies Over the Cuckoo Nest. Assuming I can find some time between homework assignments, I'd love to get my hands on some more novels by Jeff Long. Year Zero was sooooooo good.

I finished reading Darkly Dreaming Dexter, I think I prefer the TV series over it, and The Chrysalids.

Now I'm rereading Next by Michael Crichton.

Who here has read Twilight? Is it as bad as I hear the movie is?

Is the main character really a "vegetarian" vampire? Are all that the vampires do when struck by light is sparkle? Because both of these ideas sound incredibly gay.

I had to read all of em for my literature class. First one was a little below average, and the rest of em were just terrible. From what I've heard, though, the movie was MUCH worse.

Yeah, the main vampires only drink animal blood, and they sparkle in the light.

It is pretty stuffy for high fantasy. Deals a lot with politics and not combat. Things like magic and monsters are not commonplace(they do both exist), but battles are generally fought by one army against another.

Has a lot of sex/rape/attempted rape in it.

It is incredibly well written though, and Martin has a way of making you like characters who are douchebags when the story changes to their perspective.

I'm currently working through War of The Worlds and have 3001: The Final Odyssey to read. Looking to buy 1984 by George Orwell and Jekyl and Hyde. H.P. Lovecraft's Necronomicon might be purchased next month, I'll have to wait and see.
Haven't been reading enough lately, been listening to Podcasts instead (Priorities straight?)

I started reading The Stand by Stephen King but stopped when pages 14 - 38 where missing out of the book. I wish I could find A Game of Thrones somewhere.

Reading Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind. My friends have been bothering me to read it for years, finally got to it yesterday. I am almost done, and I am enjoying it immensely. I hope I enjoy the others in the series.

A few shockingly, I've read a majority of the Harry Potter series; the first, chronologically at least, Narnia book, and War of the Worlds. Oh, and Bearinsteen Bears fuck yes!
