One monopoly over the game or another. Shouldn't the company who made it get first dibs on said monopoly?

Read about this here a couple days back.

They should get first dibs, but by not negotiating in good faith, and by doing things like cutting out LAN play, they've severely damaged their primary market.

No, I don't remember, when did they say that?

Yeah, the new Bnet 2.0 is kind of shitty for starcraft, lan doesn't help tournaments at all and the lack of chat rooms is kind of a bummer, and the current custom map system is pretty poor.
At the same time, Kespa isn't a very good organization, at all. They're pricks, they monopolized the Starcraft 1 world in Korea and performed racketeering and other not-so-kosher business practices to ensure they stayed that way. Kespa doesn't have any rights over Starcraft, and they've practiced poor business relations with Blizzard for years. They feel like they own starcraft, like they made starcraft what it is, and it's a bunch of bullshit. They've racketeered their way to the top, and now they're flailing desperately to stay there.

I don't see any victims in this whole ordeal, to be honest, unless it's the gamers themselves. It's Blizzard's game and I think they have every right to make and market it exactly how they feel they should.
