If it involves trainers, are you able to take their money from their account/PayPal when defeated?

I wonder if certain pokemon will be region specific. Like if I want something I'm gonna have to travel to Europe or Asia to catch it.

Also I hope they designate gym leaders aaaaahhhh.

NEW INFORMATION

Important tidbits:

Quote:
Our goal is to make it so you can walk out of the house and within five minutes, you can find Pokémon. It may not be the most rare Pokémon in the world, but there’ll be a population of Pokémon living near all our players. Gyms will be a bit more rare. You want to find gyms so you can level up your Pokémon and battle there, so it will take a little more effort to get there.

Pokémon will live in different parts of the world depending on what type of Pokémon they are. Water Pokémon will live near the water. It may be that certain Pokémon will only exist in certain parts of the world. Very rare Pokémon may exist in very few places. But you can trade. If you live in a place with lots of water Pokémon and you come to an event — we have these Ingress events that are getting bigger and bigger. We’ll have our biggest weekend ever on Saturday.

We’ll have events for Pokémon as well. Those are competitive, but they can also be places to trade stuff with other players. Pokémon trading is going to be huge. You can’t get all of them by yourself. If you want all of them you’ll have to trade with other players. Or you have to be someone who takes time off work and travels the world for a year. There may be people who do that.
Can you imagine having to find a dump to catch a Trubbish?

A watch-like device will also be implemented, the Pokemon Go Plus:

Quote:
Part of the idea of the game is, you’re outside and you can see beautiful things. If you’re always staring at your phone, you’re not seeing the world around you.

We had brainstormed this idea. Why not have a little device that buzzes when you’re near something important? You can interact with it in some subtle way, and then later on you can open up your app or your tablet and you see, “Oh, I got this or did that.” That was one of the influences.

The other was, imagine that a parent is playing with a kid and they want to give the kid a device to interact with rather than handing over the phone. I’m often handing my phone to my kid, because he’s bored or whatever. But the idea is you can give them the Pokémon Go Plus device. It vibrates and flashes when you’re near Pokémon. When they press a button in a certain sequence they capture it. Then, later on, you can look at it together on your phone or tablet.

...

It comes with a bracelet so you can wear it like a wrist device. It’s Fitbit-ish in terms of size. Battery lasts a long time. You don’t have to worry about charging all the time. This is a multicolor LED and button. You’ll notice that it’s the Google Map pen with the Pokeball shape and color fused together. You can imagine kids going to school with this on their backpack.
Incentives to get out into the world:

Quote:
The places that you’ll interact with in the real world — historical sites, artwork, prominent or special local businesses, those will play a role in Pokémon Go just as they would for us. That same mechanic of encouraging people to take a walk in the park and see some aspect of their city they haven’t seen before, to go explore a nook or cranny in a part of the city they haven’t been to before so they can get a new Pokémon, that will be at work. Measuring how far people have walked and all of that will have specific payoffs for players in Pokémon Go.

It would be cool if the wrist device could also interact with a 3DS... so I don't have to get a smartphone. Then again, there'd be no GPS or whatever, so that won't happen.

I wonder if anyone will stand in one spot for hours on end, waiting for another person with the game to make eye contact with them, saying some canned line and then challenge them to a battle. I wonder if I should do that.

The thing with Nintendo's stocks was pretty hilarious. When this game took off, their stock prices pretty much doubled... then when Nintendo reminded their dumb investors that Pokemon GO isn't actually a Nintendo game, the prices plummeted again. People gotta do their research.

Wish they didn't disable all the 3rd party tracking websites before they fixed their own tracking system. Wandering around aimlessly is pretty annoying.

PSA: Try to avoid the recent update if you can. There are reports that the update is more like a...down...date.

From what I've heard:

-Battery saver mode gone
-Footstep radar gone entirely, instead of being fixed
-Nice, Great, and Excellent throw bonuses gone
-Third-party tracking apps disabled
-The range in which the Pokemon appears on your map has been decreased so much that you basically have to be on top of the thing
-Terrible catch, spawn rates

Supposedly people have been trying to get refunds for the items they bought since the game's been all but nerfed, but Niantic has cut off email contact with customers and redirecting them to Google, so obviously no one is getting refunded; meanwhile Niantic is pretending like everything's just fine and peachy.

But don't quote me on any of this. I got it all from a friend. I haven't opened my app today yet.

Good to hear that they're addressing it, at least. People made it sound like they went off the grid or something.

"Improve this feature" gives me hope that they'll bring back some form of tracking. If that's the case, removing the third party stuff is understandable.

PGO updated behind my back while I was asleep. Can confirm the footsteps are gone. Haven't actually gone out to play yet, but a Sandshrew showed up on the radar near my house, which is new.

New report from friend:
"Apparently both (Apple and Google's) app stores' phones have been blowing up all day with angry customers, they confirm Niantic is breaking the app stores' TOS, they are trying to implement some action plan/new policies specifically because of this game's shitshow, Niantic is directly losing money, and the app stores are probably gonna come after them soon"

Again, don't quote me on this. But here are some sources on other things:

Forbes: general news on update, leans more on the editorial side

Forbes again: It seems that some nests have changed or been removed

MSN: Some players lost everything in the recent update and were reset to level 1

People just lost their shit because, like the entitled babies they are, had to change how they played a free game that's still technically in beta.

And Niantic disabled all the software cheats and bot accounts so naturally this means that they're evil or something despite it taking a decent load off the servers (with no more fakes scrubbing every coordinate for Pokemon locations, etc).

They also just posted on Twitter a bit ago that the ball bonuses not showing up is a glitch, as is the Pokemon being so hard to catch lately. They're a pretty small team compared to the project size so I guess it takes a bit longer to get the announcements through and then, of course, actually fixing them

I like that they've been communicating what they're working on/fixing more recently. The game has been running a lot smoother with far less crashes I've noticed. I'll be happy once battery saver is back, though I understand why they had to remove it. (In my experience it would remove your ability to interact with anything once you pulled it back out of your pocket.) Things are improving steadily over all, I'd say.

I was mistaken about the battery saver thing! For some reason I don't have the latest version, and I can't get it either. Strange.
