Ha! And to quote Pearl the Whale: "Snake, try to remember some of the basics of CQC."

Well seeing as I'm gonna be moving up north sooner or later, happy birthday land of endless maple syrup.

I don't know, man. I don't see a red-headed she-devil of an admin making a post saying she eats boogers.

It's actually been I think 10 years (or more) since I've done that. Fucking childhood quirk!

I was just going to watch YoVideogames playthrough, but so far it's pretty terrible, they seem to hate the game while also being bad at it.

I'll play it myself eventually, but I was hoping to watch it now to experience the story and not have to worry about spoilers.

Watching strangers playing games is just as much fun as playing the games yourself, I agree.

I've always thought watching Let's Plays of new games was silly. Of most games really, but there's a select few that have been fun to watch for me.

That, and I don't want to fucking see a hugely narrative game before I play it! What's the point then?

No kidding. Like you said, especially games like that, where experiencing it yourself is a huge part of the, well, experience.

I feel like the minority for not really enjoying let's plays in general, though I probably just haven't found the right one.

When I was on vacation we watched all that Game Grumps did of Chulip at that time and I was more annoyed than anything, since they were just screaming about the Goosebumps theme song while glossing over/skipping information, then complaining they didn't know what to do when they'd literally just finished talking to the person who told them where to go next and I'm just like WHYYY

I very rarely watch Let's Play. Like I watched MAYBE 7 of those kinds of videos.

The ones I do are games that are still in Japan and are on their way over here. Disgaea D2 for example.

I watched the earlier Two Best Friends Play videos, but I guess I never really saw those as LP videos. I'd generally skip a video when it was a game I wanted to play myself, 'cause I didn't want things spoiled. They were short and silly, so I watched. Then they started feeling really forced, so I stopped.

I don't think you're in the minority, but maybe I'm biased, because that'd mean I'm in the minority, too.

Just a reminder that the things Nuva says, taken out of context, can be fairly humorous.

Helen Keller is pretty great but my favorite story growing up was Anne Frank.

That said I think Amon, a local friend and I would be hilarious let's players.

The only Let's Plays I've really enjoyed have been Choleraninja's LP's of KH 1 and 2, and L0rdvega's blind runs of Silent Hill 1, 2, and 3. And that's just because they are both generally good at the games, and do their best to 100% every game they play. And vega and Cholera have some pretty funny and good commentary. Also, those are games I've beaten as well, and it was fun watching someone else good at the game play through it and provide some cool and funn insight every now and then.

And yes, Addy, I like GG, but I can't stand how horrible they were at most of the games they played... I really wanted to see what happened in Chulip, mostly because I don't have a working PS2 and am not gonna go out and buy one for Chulip, but I wanted to know more about they game. But they dicked off so much, it was so gosh damn annoying.

Game Grumps is really not a good example of Let's Play. Neither is YoVideogames either really. Game Grumps often go whole videos without talking about the game, or even reacting to what's going on screen, which is fine if you find what they do talk about entertaining.

As I suggested a page or two ago, Chip Cheezum is a good example of what Let's Play is about, entertaining, informative, and for the most part he and whoever he's with talk about the game or stuff related to the game, series, or what's going on in the game.

I don't normally seek out Let's Plays. I found L0rdvega's LP's through a buddy who had seen 'em. I love Silent Hill to death, and found his blind runs hilarious. Choleraninja I found through his LoL videos, and ended up liking his KH LP's. Other than that though, I've never really looked for LP's of other games. Never had the drive to. I haven't even seen all of Cholera's LP's, because a few of the games I'd just rather not watch.

Someday I'll give Chip Cheezum a look, then. I've heard LPs are nice to have on in the background while you work but Game Grumps was just like some irrelevant podcast about nothing alongside a video game screen or something so siiigh

I just pull up game soundtracks now ;w;

I don't really like normal LPs. I have always thought they were silly. I've only ever used them to show other people a part of a game, and in those cases, I look for videos where people aren't talking. When they talk, I immediately back out. It's annoying.
