This right here.

Everyone in my family generally assumes I know everything there is the know about computers and that I can fix anything with a phone call.

Being told to calm down.

Luckily I don't get this nearly as much as I used to, but there were times where someone would be making a big stink out of something inconsequential (directed at me) and I would respond in kind, and then all the bystanders would act like I was the one making a scene. Or I'd be pretty calm and people would still tell me to calm down. No. I will end you.

Everyone in my family does this. What I don't tell them is that 99% of the time I just go to their house, google what the problem is, click on the first link and do that. Most of the time they give me a few bucks for my trouble so I'm pretty ok with being the resident computer expert.

When playing a game of Monopoly, and one of the players who has The Cannon piece switches to The Hat when I'm not present, flips out at me for asking where The Cannon went because now they're The Hat. It's an honest mistake. Just tell me you're The Hat now and I'll apologize and we can roll the dice to see what fate has in store. Things will be better that way.

Another pet peeve is when people think they hear a word like "Incessant" and "Incessantly" and start using it without looking it up or asking what it means first. If your little brother is upsetting you with their incestous nagging, it's time to talk to an adult. If you neighbor is playing loud, obnoxious music incestously, you need to youtube it, then call the cops.

Another peeve is people who don't clean out their noses. I hate the awful stench of their dried nasal filth. Your boogers are rank, and you should do something about it.

The kind of people who can't take jokes or take the internet too seriously are also a pet peeve.

When girls outright REFUSE to have their picture taking at a social gathering. You look great. If you didn't think that, you shouldn't have come! I'm never the one taking the picture, though.

Also, when you're working with someone and they keep telling you, "We're almost done, just one more," over and over again when really it's taking hours longer than that.

People who don't know how to criticize correctly so they just say, "Well I feel that. . . ' for the beginning of every sentence. That doesn't say anything, it's safe. It doesn't go "Hey, when you have lines go through the text it makes it hard to read" it says "Hey, it might do that but I could be wrong" Fuck it, critique them with no fear of being wrong you stupid fucker.

At the same effect, people who during a critique literally repeat what the person before them say. Good job paying attention fuckwad.

The phrase "It's just because I care about you" and the way it's said.

You know that guy at work who thinks that you're not happy because you don't have the exact same social life as him?

The guy whose face you want to punch in?

That's the kind of person who uses that phrase.

People who basically give disclaimers for everything they say, or apologize for their opinions. A friend of mine used to do this all the time. "I'm sorry, but I loved that movie." Why are you sorry? Is it a bad movie? I didn't think it was, stop apologizing!

Over the weekend I endured a pet peeve of people talking negative about other people rather than approaching them and settling whatever was the actual problem. It resolves nothing to just sit and talk shit when you do not know the person.

Same for politics.

People being content to complain rather than ask questions and try to find out for themselves why things are the way they are.

People who think everything is one way OR the other, like Nami was saying. There are so many things going and deciding your point of view is the only one is a remnant of the Dark Ages.

Pet peeve: people who walk in the street when a sidewalk IS RIGHT THERE.

Yeah, this one drives me crazy too. Even in open spaces it drives me nuts. I don't like needing to hop into the street or walk on the grass just so I can get around someone who's going like 20 feet a minute.

On a similar note, this get amplified like ten fold when the group is walking in the opposite direction of the way I'm going and they just outright refuse to move aside from any foot traffic going the other way. It's even worse when they make a big huff about you going around them, like you're the one being an inconvenience, when they're blocking off the entire goddamn sidewalk.

Yeah, this drives me crazy too. Especially since I tend to encounter these people while I'm driving and I'm just like "Get out of the damn road so I don't feel like you're gonna surprise suicide on me".

People who don't use their turn signals.

People driving under the speed limit in the fast lane.

These too. On a related note to that first one, people who only use their turn signals while already in the process of changing lane or making the turn.

And on a related note to that second one, when someone drives in the fast lane at the exact same speed of the people to their right. Faster, equal, or slower than the speed limit is irrelevant. The point is they're driving at the exact same speed and it ends up boxing in everyone behind them because no one wants to go faster than the person next to them.

And another one unrelated to those, people who slow down to watch a scene where police are nearby. Like say there's an accident or something. I know it's good practice to slow down when you're in the lane closest to it so you don't accidentally hurt anyone, but it's so obvious when everyone is slowing down just because they want to see what's going on.

I second all of the turn-signal and going-the-same-speed-as-the-guy-next-to-you antics. Also the sidewalk thing-- people in my town seem not to know what the sidewalk is for. They will dress up in their black sweatshirts and walk their black dogs in the middle of the road at night. Or groups of kids will walk side-by-side taking up an entire lane of traffic, again doing so at night. Ten feet away from the sidewalk itself. I swear I'm gonna hit somebody eventually.

Also, it really bugs me when people throw cigarettes out their car windows. It's happened to me an unusual amount this last week or so.

It's a long deep-running personal issue at this point and I'm not really okay with being jokes made about it, I'm sorry. I *am* taking it way too seriously and I won't deny that but ... yeah. D: It's already a thing I don't like but that's the one issue where I'm really not okay with.

It's a long story and incredibly dumb

it really boils down to I'm a neurotic dumbass who used to be a lot dumber, and I dated a guy who I now know did not ever deserve me. And I had a lot of terrible friends who felt the game meant more to them than I did. My ex included. I did not deal with things properly back then but am working on it now.

Self-esteem is cool, I have it sometimes now. I didn't before.
