Not nearly as hilarious as those clavicles. Also his neck looks like a vagina.

Is there a reason that everyone in that DC pic looks like a teenager or young adult except for Batman?

I still find it very sad that kids (and some adults) are usually impressed by all the clutter. They go "LOOK AT ALL DAT DETAIL!" without realizing the viewer has no idea who or what to focus on.

Your eyes just go all over the place, unsure of where they should rest.

There's an artist, who I believe who is japanese, who works for Marvel. Or at least, has done work for Marvel. His work is absolutely jam-packed with detail, but it's fucking beautiful. Everything looks so exciting and energetic, and it makes the detail feel so natural and uncluttered. I think he mostly does covers and posters, though. I just wish I could remember his damn name, he has a great cover with Doc Ock and Spiderman crashing out a window and it works SO much better than most superdetailed works in comics.

What's funny about the DC relaunch is that the Wonder Woman covers have been fucking amazing so far

Usually 30's. Haven't kept up with the new 52 but they seem to be a lot younger than normal

My problem with Jim Lee is more with his designs than his actual pencils. His costume designs are one of my least favorite aspects of the reboot.

Wonder Woman is awesome and Cliff Chiang is amazing. He does covers and interiors for all but the most recent issue and it is all incredible.

One of the points of the reboot is to de-age them all a little. But in my experience trying to figure out the age of comic book characters is not worth it.

some people don't get the point of this thread and it makes me mad. i'm making this face right now ',:I

because referencing is different from tracing.

tracing porn = bad not talent, that's finding porn and tracing.
referecing from porn = ok i don't know why you're doing that but at least you're not fucking tracing

tracing = bad

Simmons is well-known for marketing Kiss' products really hard, his son was trying to follow his business model by copying a "popular" mnaga series but he failed to do that when someone/a group a of people started noticing the "art-style" of said comic.

Some of the shit Nick Simmons said in his defense was HILARIOUS. I will try to find the quotes but at one point he claimed to be psychic.

A long time ago I found a very interesting article that showed some early Batman material was plagiarized/"swiped" from The Shadow Magazine and other pulp comics and print materials.

I'm not sure if this is it, but it basically says the same thing. Some of the evidence is a stretch. Some of it is pure plagiarism.

BTW, I don't know what y'all are talking about with Alex Ross/Kingdom Come, but since I tend love Alex Ross's work (though I definitely see what you mean about the repeated models thing), I'd appreciate it if someone would PM me. Of course, I may try to google it, too, but yeah.

Also, while it's on my mind--if anyone has seen the 1994 Marvel Masterpieces trading card set by the Hildebrandt brothers... all the men's faces look the same. So many artists do that. I remember reading X-Men #1 back in the 90's (y'know, drawn by Jim Lee), and seeing that practically all the men were the same, just in different costume; same with the women.
