Alright, the spider pics set off my Arachnophobia. Really bad too.

Okay, this might not be really scary, but I think Stephen Gammel(l) did a really creepy job on the illustrations for the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark series.

(ok, they photoshopped "Run" into there, but in case you think it was there originally, it wasn't)

Without my scanner, that's all the ones I could really find. I own all three books though.

I can see. Even more frightening when you have something suddenly start crawling on you while you look. Damn earwig.

If you think of it as a giant spider with cancer instead of a giant crab, it's creepier.

Also, form the news thread:

That giant crab is awesome. But what the fuck is that nasty looking giant millipede with a pig nose.

Bobbit worm. Predatory polychaete worm that can get to several feet long.

More monster worms:

Just a little. I can only tell it's got fangs and legs, so I don't find it all that creepy.

It's a tarantula sliding out of its old skin. Here's a video of the process.

That spider is gorgeous.
The skin looked like a pair of spiderpants or something, haha.

The music in the video made it sort of cute. Plus Boots calling them "spiderpants". It must have felt good to get those off. And the blue is pretty amazing, I didn't know they came in that color.

The first time I saw molted tarantula skin I thought maybe it was a dead one, since I always imagine molted skin white and translucent. The holes from the legs might make it a good finger-puppet!
