Default Firefox crashing. Can't send error report.

Not sure what is causing it, but I've had a strange web page pop up yesterday, and an exe file showed up on my hard drive(Malware Bytes put it in quarantine).

Might be connected. The sites visited on this computer have been reputable, and then there's failblog and a few webcomics. Recently my mother installed a program to read microsoft office files without my go-ahead, but I don't know if that would do it.

Web suggestions are to check for Ram problems, download some programs and have them check around. I'm skeptical of any webpage that tells me to put a new program on my computer just to check if another program is bothering it. You know?

I'll take suggestions.

I know this won't help your Firefox problem, but I would suggest at least considering switching to Chrome. I did just two or three months ago after using Firefox for years and years. The reason? Firefox updates all the time, and it had become extremely slow with some flash-driven or media-heavy websites. It takes barely any time for me to load Chrome versus Firefox. Now, one difference is that Chrome opens up several little processes on my computer, thus using more resources than Firefox, but at least they're spread around, unlike Firefox, which hoards all of its resources in one location and then overloads.

Anyway, that said, if Firefox crashes and can't send an error report, why not try redownloading Firefox?

It's already installed, I use them both. This thread was started with Chrome, and I can appreciate that it hasn't failed me.

I should probably update Chrome before I start talking about what I'm already missing from Firefox.

I would suggest completely uninstalling Firefox, replacing whatever anti-virus you have with a trial of Kaspersky 2013, scanning everything, and then installing Firefox again. Avast and AVG are good free alternatives once the trial expires.
