I'm in talks with someone for a cheaper alternative to Ryan's Megs. He just wants the mods and a detailing paintjob, so I showed him my Brawl (painted exactly like my Wreckage).
Not the giant payoff I was expecting when he first said he wanted a Megs, but I'm still happy to do some business for a change.
Is it weird that when I read that, I immediately envisioned your buyer wanting all four so he could pose the girls as staunch admirers of the GREAT AND POWERFUL MEGATRON?

Four or five hours probably. Even a simple paint job on Megs'll take like 2 hours just because he's a big figure. And giving him an elbow has always been a pain.
The three bikes shouldn't be too long since it's mostly just spray painting.
Yeah, giving up on that. It's been like 3 months or soemthing and I still have a grand total of $0 put aside for it. Let's face it, it's never happening.
So I've got a job interview for a cashiering position. I think the is mostly giving out winnings to the VLT winners (it's the town's Video Lottery Terminal place). So most of it will be spent standing around all day waiting for something to do and probably be held at gunpoint at some point.
So after thinking up some reaons to not do auctions anymore, all I can think of is future auctions.
There's a bulldozer hulk in one of my local wal-marts. Was thinking of making a second Mecha Zangief. The first one still retains it's one of a kind status given it's a different mold.
Besides that I was thinking of having a Generations Drift and the upcoming Blurr doors as a Capcom Crossovers Dante. Reason for Blurr's doors (blurr's just a retool) is that he comes with a pair of pistols as opposed to Drift's pair of swords. Can't just get a Blurr because he has no giant sword.
Anyway, any of you guys think this would be a good idea? Assuming I go through with the whole timing everything and stuff, getting everything ready and then making the rounds with my emailing important people with the gallery link and auction link.
It would be a nice thing to do, but I don't wanna get burned again like Zangief's whopping zero bids of my first Megatron's incredible $100 loss.
I think I'm giving up customs. They've just degraded into the low points of my days now. I haven't done a figure I've liked in months. I did a Sideswipe who between his bland paintjob and horribly done foot mod is boring in robot mode and horrible in alt mode. I've done this rotf soundwave in g1 colours twice already and I've gotta strip his paint again and redo him because he looks horrible. I've got 5 or so backlogged customs who were supposed to be quick but never got past a failed blackwash. Yeah, I was amazed you could even fail at a blackwash too, but I found a way.
And then there's the selling of my customs. Let's just say that sucked whatever fun was left over out of customizing. I keep looking at this Soundwave and thinking "wow this would sell horribly on ebay" even though I started it for me. I keep thinking of all the time and effort I put in advertising; almost as much as the figures themselves; and all I ever got was "oh hey that looks cool." Two whole people have ever even asked me about commissions in all this time, and only one has gone through with it. That just strikes a big blow to my confidence.
I may work on a figure here and there when the mood strikes me, but it'd just be something quick like detailing a WfC megs or something, nothing worth posting. probably the only time I would post a figure is the rare event where I decide to get fancy and I can tolorate looking at the end result.
So I suppose this is it for me. I had a good run until the end where my confidence hit an all-time low and all my figures started sucking as a result.
So it is 5:50AM and I just finished two of the three bikes, with the third bike being unfinishable due to me living where I do and also being broke and having to ship these out as soon as I wake up tomorrow.
I hated everything after the first ten minutes of these bikes. Then everything started going wrong. These are probably what drove me to quitting customizing altogether.
So financing customs still sucks major donkey ass. Ran out of grey on my WfC Prime, whcih means it's about another 2 weeks before I can get more. Not to mention I'm unsure if they keep blacklight neon paints in my Michaels. Since Michaels is the only place that stocks hobby paints, and Canada has a 'can't ship paints into the country blah blah ingredients' law, no online retailer will ship paints to Canada.
Oh yeah, could very well miss one of the figures I need for a project for one of Ves's planned tourneys, which means I'll have to pay double the price to get it off ebay, triple if you include shipping.
So I have no idea how to do things. Buy a figure for a job or buy paints, or save up for a larger figure. I can only ever do one. I kinda miss the days when my work ethic let a figure sit on my desk unassembled for months. Sure I never got any work done, but at least I wasn't always broke.
Thanks man. I just think I need to start doing figures for me. Stuff I personally want for my own collection. Something original.
Kinda makes me wish ROTF Lockdown saw a release around here. I had some good plans for him.
I remembered you mentioning this toy awhile back and on a whim picked one up. Not sure how much it would cost to ship it to you, but we might be able to work something out.
